Yoshimi Yasuda, CEO of Kadokawa Games, the publisher of Lollipop Chainsaw, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, announced last month that he would be leaving Kadokawa and starting a new company called Dragami Games.
According to Yasuda’s new statement, one of the first games of Dragami Games will be a new Lollipop Chainsaw!
“Lollipop Chainsaw is coming back from the hands of Dragami Games. Please wait impatiently,” Yasuda said.
There is no other detail in this sentence of Yasuda. It could be a remaster, a remake, a completely new game that he’s talking about. In fact, they may be going the remake way first, because it’s been 10 years since the game’s release and it’s only available for Xbox 360 and PS3.
What’s more, the Xbox version isn’t backwards compatible with the next-generation consoles, and the PS3 version isn’t among the new PS Plus games either. So it is not possible to play this game on current consoles. The game wasn’t released on PC either.
Another interesting detail is that the director of the game, Suda51, and one of its writers, James Gunn, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the game on Twitter and never mentioned it.
Lollipop Chainsw is about a cheerleader (Juliet Starling) who tries to save her school from a zombie invasion.
