SquidShock Studios, the developer of Another Metroid 2 Remake, also known as AM2R, was working on a completely new and original Metroidvania project.
Inspired by examples such as Hollow Knight and Okami, this game is called Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus and is completely hand-drawn graphics.
In the game, we’ll control a character named Bö and uncover the secrets behind the emergence of a mysterious and powerful shogun. We’ll probably unlock abilities like dash, grapple, etc. as we progress through the game (because otherwise it would be a metroidvania away from metroidvania elements) and we’ll have access to brand new areas.
We’re trying to get the team game ready for PC and Nintendo Switch by 2023.
AM2R was the unofficial fan-made remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, released in 2016 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Metroid franchise.
