Sucker Punch, the developer of Ghost of Tsushima, released by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2020, is working on a new project that they describe as a “great multiplayer game”.
The first details of the project were seen through a job advertisement on sucker punch’swebsite for job applications. The developer of Ghost of Tsushima; Washington is looking for a Multiplayer/Network Programmer to join its team in Bellevue. Part of the job description: “Our talented multiplayer designers create great gaming team experiences. You will be very important in bringing a great multiplayer game to life.”

Although it doesn’t do us much good with the definition and requirements of the role, we can draw a little more conclusions. There is no mention of what type of multiplayer game is being worked on, and therefore we cannot determine at this stage whether the project is PvP, PvE or co-op. All other requested/presented details include fairly standard requirements for online multiplayer programming. This new multiplayer project is not Sucker Punch’s first. Ghost of Tsushima had a good co-op multiplayer mode added shortly after its release. It’s also important to remember that Sucker Punch recently created a job ad for a writer with a “desire to write stories set in feudal Japan.” At the moment, we don’t know if these projects are related or separate. The success of Ghost of Tsushima and developer Sucker Punch is undeniable. Interest in the game was quite large, and it is a well-known fact that this interest is still ongoing.
