Rocket League, developed by Psyonix and becoming one of the most popular games in the world with the acquisition of Epic Games, is also coming to mobile platforms. The game, called Rocket League Sidesweep, will be released for Android and iOS devices. The first alpha gameplay footage has been shared and looks fun.
Rocket League Sidesweep to be released for mobile this year
Developer Psyonix announced today that Rocket League Sidesweep for iOS and Android devices has been announced. The new game seems to continue the excitement we know from the original game as online multiplayer. Each will include 1v1 or 2v2 matches that will last about two minutes. It will be released as a free-to-download and play game.
Rocket League is differently optimized for mobile. It uses different techniques to make it easier to use from phones and tablets, especially in terms of controls. It will also have a different camera perspective so that cars can fit on the screen in any way. For those who want to advance with ranked matches, they will have extra mechanics just like in the original game. This suggests that the first game will take its “hard to learn, harder to master” structure to mobile devices.
Psyonix has not yet announced an official and clear release date for the game. As they stated in the announcement, they plan to publish it later this year. There will also be some alpha and beta tests through the development process of the game. Starting today, players in Australia and New Zealand will get their first chance at testing. Separate testing processes for Europe, America and Asia are expected to begin in the coming period.
About Rocket League
It was first released by Psyonix on July 7, 2015,with its original gameplay and structure. Faced with the intense interest of the players, the game has been continuously improved since then and continues on its way. Rocket League, which skyrocketed with epic games’ acquisition of Psyonix, is now available on mobile. Esports events, which have started to become widespread in our country, are held in Europe and America under the name RLCS. This season’s RLCSX tournament is shown live on both YouTube and Twitch. Developed with Unreal Engine 3, the game seems to continue to remain popular on mobile platforms.
