Fraxis Games announced the release date of the new expansion package for Civilization VI, which is still being updated. According to this statement, it was announced that the New Frontier Pass: Vietnam & Kublai Khan update will be released on January 28th. The official details on the subject are as follows;
Civilization VI New Frontier Pass: Portugal Pack features
The package includes João III and Portuguese civilization, Nau’s unique unit and two unique structures.
Civ Unique Ability: Portugal’s unique ability “Casa Da Índia” significantly increases the efficiency of international trade routes, but limits them to coastal or port cities. This capability also gives Merchant units additional range and the ability to climb water tiles as soon as they are unlocked.
Leader Unique Ability: João’s unique ability is “Porta Do Cerco”, which provides more Visibility to all units. In addition, Portugal increases its Trade Route capacity when faced with a new city and provides Open Borders to all city states.
Unique Unit: Portugal’s unique unit Nau is a naval unit that replaces Caravel. It starts with a free Promotion, requires less maintenance than Caravel and coststwo fees to build Feitorias, a private shipping port native to Portugal.
Unique Infrastructure: Portugal has access to two unique structures. Portugal’s unique building, the Navigation School, replaces the University building and increases production towards the naval units in each city that built it. It also improves a city’s Science efficiency for both coastal or lake tiles within the city’s boundaries and provides additional Great Admiral scores. Feitoria can only be built by a Nau unit next to a luxury or bonus resource on the beach tile of a foreign city. Shipping a Trade Route to a city with Feitoria provides additional Gold and Production to Portugal.
New “Zombies Defense” Game Mode
The Portuguese Pack also introduces the new game mode Zombies Defense. In this on-demand game mode, the dead do not stay dead for long and pose an ever-growing threat to world civilizations.
The Dead Don’t Rest: Every unit has a chance to be reborn as a greedy Zombie when it dies. Zombie units starve and attack the nearest non-Zombie unit; Any unit they kill succumbs to infection and is reborn as Zombies themselves.
The Living Fight Back: An arsenal of new trap and barricade enhancements damage enemy units passing through them or next to them and can be built in an owned or neutral zone. Zombies’ obsession with brain feasts and digestive destruction means that they can only fall victim to these improvements and never plunder them.
Humanity Takes Control: Two new projects allow civilizations to temporarily subjugate Zombie units within a city’s borders, putting them under player control. The “Holy Site: Turn Undead” project opens early, but only briefly controls zombies. The “Campus: Dark Signal” project opens later in the game, but provides additional turns to command the mindless mayhem of zombies. Meanwhile, the “Zombie Outbreak” spy operation attempts to create Zombies on stones processed in another player’s city.
New map and new Wonders of the World:
The Portugal Pack also includes a new map and two new Wonders of the World:
Wetlands Map Script: Take the path to victory on a wet map dominated by swamps. This map presents new strategic challenges and defense possibilities: Careful positioning while punishing the Marshes Movement can allow ranged units to take advantage of the low speed of enemies.
Torre de Belém World Wonder: This imposing tower has historically served as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon in Portugal. Gives additional Gold and Great Admiral Points. International Trade Routes starting in this city receive additional Gold for each Luxury Resource at the destination. When they are built, any city that belongs to civilization but is located on other continents gets the cheapest building they can build at that time.
Etemenanki World Wonder: The name of this Babylonian ziggura means “temple of heaven and the foundation of the world”. It gives additional Science efficiency at every opportunity and bonus Science and Production to all the Flood Beds in the city that built it and the Marsh tiles in that civilization.
