Even the now deaf sultan has heard about nier automata’s problems with the PC port. Square Enix hasn’t fixed the Steam version yet, four years after the game, and last month it installed a problem-free version on Game Pass. He then promised that the Steam version would be patched and fixed, but we’re still waiting.
Nier Replicant, which recently made its debut, is grappling with similar problems. It’s a game that’s in much better shape than nier automata in terms of performance, you got to hand it to me. However, there are some annoying bugs specific to the PC port. For example, if you’re playing with a gamepad, the mouse cursor comes to the screen, you have to drag it to the far corner and hide it. It reappears in the next upload or intermediate scene.
Some bosses may experience significant fps drops instantly, or you may experience a similar situation when you do a Alt-Tab and return to the game, and it may require a sub-tab or two to return to normal performance. There is also a different problem with fps. If your monitor is over 60hz, animations can accelerate when the fps in the game exceed 60, which is a nuisance in some places.
Square Enix probably won’t make the mistake it made at Nier Automata in Nier Replicant, and I hope it will patch them soon. But for those who don’t want to wait, the mod makers have taken over again. Kaldaien, which also corrected Nier Automata, released the mouse cursor on the Discord channel and the mode that corrects some slowdowns, where you can set an fps limit, and turn off V-Sync. You can reach this fashion through discord channel, there is a link in the #nierreplicant room.
Another mode, Nier Replicant High FPS Fix, also corrects the speed of the game when you go above 60 fps. It’s worth using that for now.
