Never mind that it’s called ‘Cadillacs and Dinosaurs’ cool, we’ve always known this game as a mustafer fighting game .
Mark Schultz and Xenozoic Tales
Mark Schultz, a comic book writer, was not very active at first, but he worked for many well-known companies such as Marvel and DC. He has contributed to many popular productions that have survived to the present day, such as Conan the Barbarian, Superman, Predator and the like. But Mark Schultz would be best known for his own story, and he would show his recognition by people through his own creativity.
Mark, who published a comic book called Xenozoic Tales in the late 80s, didn’t yet realize that it would become so popular. Although the number of sequels came in an uneven fashion, the comic book soon became a work that the majority liked; it was even reprinted in the early ’90s by another publisher called Epic Comics, which is now part of Marvel. This work, which was distributed by many different publishers in the following years, was made in 1993 as a cartoon called Cadillacs and Dinosaurs that would last only 1 year.

In the same years, the game was released by Capcom again with the same name. Especially the release of the game has made this production, which was initially just a comic book, a big brand known all over the world. So what was the story of something so popular? What did this work, called Cadillas and Dinosaurs, tell us?
Xenozoic Tales Story
According to the most original story of the series, the story told directly in the comics, the world was devastated by pollution and all kinds of natural disasters in the 90s. Mankind begins to build underground cities in order to survive such destruction. People who go out of these underground cities, where they have lived for about 500 years, realize that the world they left behind has nothing to do with the past. Because after the world was purged of the human community living on it, it began to host many ancient creatures such as extinct life forms and prehistoric mammals. People who are amazed by what they see call this new age they live in the Xenozoic age.
The story stars a mechanic named Jack Tenrec and a scientist named Hannah Dundee. Jack is the leader of the team and Hannah’s lover at the same time. He runs a garage where he restores cars, especially Cadillac. In a world where technology no longer exists because of a post-apocalyptic time, Jack modifies cars to work with dinosaur dung. In the days when gasoline prices are so high, we cannot pass without saying how nice it would be if we used fertilizer-powered vehicles.
Joking aside, this is the story of the Xenozoic era in a nutshell.
What Are Cadillacs and Dinosaurus?
Born and raised in such an era, Jack Tenrec, Hannah Dundee, Mess O’Bradovich and, of course, Mustapha Cairo (yes, the famous Mustafa’s surname was Cairo, I just found out) as a team try to survive in such a world full of dangers. This is how the basic operation in the game begins. Our heroes investigate the mystery behind the scenes of the events in which dinosaurs attacked them after humanity has resurfaced. There is an endless struggle with many different types of enemies, such as various criminals and even reptilian humanoid beings, that fill the post-apocalyptic world of tomorrow.
The game, which consists of 8 episodes in total, includes gangs on motorcycles, creatures that look like the Blanka we know from the Street Fighter series but jump like frogs instead of throwing electricity, barrel canisters that provoke soundly sleeping dinosaurs, Morgan, Dr. Fessenden and scientific street bums.
And of course the famous face on the Game Over screen! Don’t think we’ve forgotten you too!
In the game, which can be played with a maximum of three people, each character has its own characteristics. For example, Mess represents power, while Mustapha represents speed. When dinosaurs are brought into the provocation phase I just mentioned, they become neutral, posing a temporary threat to both the player and the bad guys. When it changes from green to orange, it is best not to get too close.
Finally, when you finish the play with Mustapha or Mess, the escape from the final scene will turn into a partial frustration. Hannah, who falls and triples while escaping, is trapped under Dr. Fessenden’s facility, which is about to collapse with her lover Jack… (or so we think she is.)
At the end of the play, we see Mustapha and Mess walking sadly as those who contributed to the production and broadcast slowly flow from the bottom up on the screen. But soon the duo of Jack and Hannah re-emerge in a cool way, and the aftermath is known.

This game, which you can easily finish in half an hour with a solid gameplay, has not lost its place in the hearts of anyone despite the decades that have passed as one of the unforgettable ones of our childhood. There are not many arcade halls under the stairs and with testicle scents anymore.
