Nodon are creatures with large personalities used to help you build your games from scratch. Game Builder Garage has dozens of Nodons, each with a unique function, and you can learn how to improve games by connecting them in a variety of ways. For example, you can create and move a human-like character with an analog stick by connecting the Stick Node to the Person Nodona! So you’ll learn the basics of game programming in a fun and intuitive way. You’ll also be able to create a wide range of video games, from side-scrolling platform games to card racers!
When you start the Game Builder Garage for the first time, you can start with Lesson Mode. Here you will meet the colorful and interesting Nodon, the creatures you will use to learn the basic concept of visual programming, step by step, interactive lessons that you can take at your own pace. These lessons are designed to be fun, engaging and perfect for people of all levels of experience, with checkpoints between them, for players to solve small puzzles or tasks and test their knowledge.
In Free Programming mode, you can bring your own game ideas to life by testing all the skills you have learned in lessons. With the push of a button, you can switch between programming and the game screen to quickly test your creativity and see how it’s played.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, you can shop and download games with friends and family online or via local wireless connection. * This is a way to browse not only some of your own creations, but also games created by other players..
You can even switch to Free Programming mode to study them and learn their tricks in programming games uploaded by other players!
Game Builder Garage can be controlled with a Joy-Con controller, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, or Nintendo Switch Lite **, while you can also create games using a compatible mouse plugged into the USB port in the Nintendo Switch slot. This control option can be easier for those who like the feeling of a mouse when browsing the software.
