Stardock, known for its games such as Star Control, Sins of a Solar Empire, Ashes of Singularity, Offworld Trading Company, is one of the first companies that comes to mind in terms of space-themed games and especially strategy games. There’s also the Political Machine, which is one of my favorites, where they get out of the space theme, and I don’t want to mention that.
One of Stardock’s beloved series is Galactic Civilizations. Game 3 of the series was released in 2015, and in the interim, his followers were waiting for a new game; The announcement they’ve been waiting for has finally arrived.
If you’re a fan of 4X strategy games, you’ve probably heard of Galactic Civilizations. This new member of the series intends to take things a step further. Inspired mainly by Civilization, the series is also experimenting with something new, inspired by games such as Stellaris and Endless Space. In this new game, maps from previous games will be combined with other maps of a similar nature to try to present players with a complete galaxy. In other words, the playground is said to be much larger than its predecessors. Apart from that, of course, many innovations will be offered.
No release date has yet been announced for Galactic Civilizations IV, it is expected to debut next year but there will be an alpha test later this summer, so maybe you’ll have a chance to browse there.
