Electronic Arts has announced that it will open its new game development studio in Seattle.
Former Monolith Productions studio boss Kevin Stephens has been appointed to head the studio.
Kevin Stephens spent nine years as an engineer at Monolith Productions before joining Electronic Arts this month, as vice president of development at WB Games for five years, and then again as studio boss at Monolith Productions.
Projects he is working on include Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
The new Electronic Arts studio, which has not yet been named, will develop open-world action adventure games.
“The action adventure space is a very important genre in the gaming industry and for us at EA,” Samantha Ryan, senior vice president of Electronic Arts, said in a statement. The players and fans of these games are very passionate and personally one of my favorite genres. We’ve had success with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order soon and we want to entertain more fans with similar interests,” he said.
Electronic Arts plans to share more details this fall.
