Game developer and publisher Riot Games has made special remarks to the 1st anniversary of the much-loved PC game VALORANT all over the world. An average of 14 million PC players enter the game every month to play VALORANT around the world, the company said, with more than half a billion matches taking place in one year. Riot’s free-to-play FPS game was released for the PC platform on June 2, 2020.
More than half a billion encounters in a year
After the record-breaking closed beta process, VALORANT quickly reached a global fan base by showing that PC is one of the standout FPS games. During the first year of the game, VALORANT players played more than half a billion matches in the team-based shooter.
VALORANT mobile is coming

Less than a year after VALORANT’s 2020 debut, Riot announced the VALORANT Champions Tour, supporting the growing competitive leg of the game. The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), a year-long global tournament, has three different tournament stages: Challengers, Masters and Champions. The second largest event of the 2021 Champions Tour and VALORANT’s first major international tournament, VCT Masters II, was held last week in Reykjavik, Iceland. According to preliminary reports, the final match between the Sentinels and Fnatic attracted more than 1 Million simultaneous viewers and an average of more than 800,000 viewers per minute.
Special awards await players
In honor of VALORANT’s first year, Riotwill hold a month-long celebratory event for VALORANT players and fans, during which they will give in-game rewards and incentives to community members. Throughout June, the VALORANT community will receive exclusive digital content, such as a player card and an event-specific Battle Pass, that will be heirloom from this special day.
