With the Danger Zone update that came a few years ago, the world of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was introduced to “outstanding” and “non-exclusive” accounts. Thus, the game would be free, but non-elite accounts would only be able to throw competitive games among themselves. The fact that the game was free brought with it many cheaters. Valve, however, has taken a significant step back in its thinking.
With the latest update of CS:GO, Valvehas stripped all non-prime accounts of their authority. From now on, people who play the game for free will no longer be able to enter competitive games or benefit from in-game item drops. The elite account that you used to be able to activate by reaching level 21 has also disappeared. So you now need to buy the game for selected accounts.
Valve acknowledges in a statement that it has invited “many cheaters” to the game thanks to this route. The developer who announced that they will not allow this will no longer even give experience points to non-elite accounts. While this news is good for longtime gamers, those who want to start the game have rebelled under Valve’s tweet.
Still, it seems almost certain that the studio will not back down from its decision. If you are among players without an elite account, you have the last two weeks to keep up-to-date experience points and level. If you purchase the game within these two weeks, all your progress will remain in your account.
