One of the games expected to be shown on last night’s Nintendo Direct program was Metroid Prime 4; but was replaced by another game, Metroid 5, or Metroid Dread.
Speaking before the Metroid Dread presentation, Shinya Takahashi said it was something she wanted to say before moving on to the announcement and said, “We are working diligently for Metroid Prime 4, the new member of the Metroid Prime series.”
Those who follow will remember that the development process of Metroid Prime 4 has been through a difficult period. Takahashi ignited this process in a sense by saying that “he did not reach the standards we expected from a sequel worthy of the Metroid Prime series.” Shortly after this announcement, producer Kensuke Tanabe was commissioned to work with Retro Studios on this project. After that, the development process of the game started all over again.
Metroid Prime 4 was developed by Retro Studios, while Metroid Dread’s developer is Mercury Steam. Therefore, there is no risk that the development processes of these two games will affect each other. Still, the announcement of Dread instead of Prime 4 on Nintendo Direct suggests that there is still a significant distance to go. I hope we get news from Prime 4 as soon as possible, we’re on the look-after.
