Guild Wars 2’s arrival on Steam has yet to materialize. It’s been almost nine years since the game’s release, but ArenaNet announced late last year that it was postponing steam release to focus on its new expansion, End of Dragons. You know what happened in the end? End of Dragons, due out later this year, has also been postponed until 2022. So the game didn’t make it to Steam this year, nor did it get an expansion pack.
Studio director JT said it was clear that real-world challenges had changed their habits of living and working, and that they needed more time for Cantha to reflect on her visions.
ArenaNet is also developing End of Dragons; on the other hand, guild wars 2 is also trying to move the game engine to DirectX 11. Later this year, the beta will allow players to test this DX11 migration themselves. “Some players may see no difference, but our upgrade to DX11 will open a lot of doors for us to improve performance. It will also lead to potential graphics improvements,” says JT.
Despite this postponement, the End of Dragons screening will take place on 27 July.
