One of the games that drew me into the game world was the original Half-Life. Since then, I’ve played every game of the series with the same pleasure. But at no point in my life did I ever think of emailing the writer Marc Laidlaw to ask about the length of the Citadel. Some fans of the series had reached 2,569 meters in length, searching for the answer to this question. In fact, official wiki accounts continue to be based on this conclusion reached in 2012.
After nine years, a new claim was made. Rscreamroad, the owner of these claims, reassessedthe size of citadel with very interesting mathematical methods. The Reddit user, who has been working on the project for about 9 years, says the problem is with the accounts made.
We were all guests at the end of Half-Life 2; The calculations say that citadel is 250 meters wide, but as Rscreamroad points out, this is not a very consistent number. Because the inside of the Citadel is much larger than you think.
The Reddit user, who has done various researches to do so, examined the scene at the top of the Citadel as a last resort with the help of a free camera. City 17, visible from the top of the Citadel, remains a tiny silhouette, so our friend concluded it was a satellite image. The details he found in the game data in his research proved him right.
The City 17 skyline we saw from the top of the Citadel actually belonged to New York. Satellite images have been taken from 8,773 meters above. So when you’re on top of the Citadel, you’re almost 30,000 feet from the ground.
That changes the color of the business a lot. According to Rscreamroad, citadel’s stated width of 250 meters is actually 860 meters. It was even stated that the Citadel was about 230 meters underground.
In this case, the Citadel is much larger than Barad Dur.
