Motorsport Games has confirmed the future of a new NASCAR game in 2021, but it will not be in the form of a sequel to the Heat series.
NASCAR 21 is seen as a new beginning for NASCAR racing games. Studio 397’s rFactor 2 physics engine is used in the game, which will be developed with Unreal. Motorsport Games acquired Studio 297 last March, so this change is no surprise. In the game engine part, the NASCAR Heat 5, released in 2020, was developed with the Unity game engine; it is now understood that the Unreal game engine has been switched.
In an interviewwith IGN, George Holmquist of Motorsport Games said that in addition to these changes and the distance the game travels visually, a step has been taken to meet the expectations of fans; more customization options will now be available. Holmquist also shared that he thinks they can expand the pool of players.
As they renew the NASCAR series, there is pressure on them from the inside out, from the outside, from the outside, to their partners, he says, adding that they are aware of the risk they take with the choice of switching to a new game engine, adding: “The easy thing was to develop the old game a little bit and make NASCAR Heat 6 and keep the sales the same, then take the game of the month out again and on the road like this. But that’s not what we wanted to do as Motorsport Games. We have goals such as showing what we can do, offering people something they would like while developing our motorsports game portfolio, and spreading motorsport and passion for gaming to a wider audience.”
A release date for NASCAR 21 has not yet been announced. But we clearly have a deadline of no more than a few months. Let’s see to what extent they can reflect all this on their game.
