343 Industries took off the eye while making eyebrows. Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. That’s why 343 Industries added the Juneteenth emblem to the game. So far, so good.
But the addition of a pallet option called “Bonobo” to this emblem, which honored the celebration of the end of slavery, caused a stir. Because Bonobo is the name of an endangered monkey.
On the one hand, you commemorate the liberation of black people from slavery, and on the other hand, you call the color palette a monkey. Will not work 🙂
As soon as 343 Industries realized the mistake, it changed the name of the pallet to Freedom and apologized.
Bonnie Ross, founder and president of the studio, said: “We have come to realise that there is an offensive and offensive word in the palette option for the Juneteenth emblem. Our team fixed this issue by releasing an immediate update. We are a studio and series that embraces everyone and supports their true selves. On behalf of 343, I apologize for making this moment of celebration hurtful.”
It is said that this error may be related to the fact that one of the developer tools taken from Bungie is called Bonobo. Nevertheless, it is interesting how this error was overlooked during the quality control phase.
