The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always acted in accordance with age limits since it began its journey. We’ve never seen a MCU movie as 18+, there’s no other adult MCU movie announced outside of Deadpool 3. The what if animated series has also had its share of this policy. A Spider-Man episode we’re about to see on the show has been altered on the grounds that it’s “too dark.”
In this episode of Spider-Man, we were going to see Peter Parkeras a Human-Spider. Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film viewers understood the reference “My Name is Human-Spider!” But here, like a werewolf, Spider-Man would turn into a gigantic spider we know. Ac Bradley, one of the What If screenwriters, said in a statement, “A few episodes were really dark. The original What If comic book series featured spider-man transforming into a real spider. This was a very dark and terrible story for PG-13.” and explained that this part had been removed from the show.
Of course, seeing a Marvel content as 18+ on Disney+ seems like a dream right now. But still, with such a Spidey story at hand, it could have been quite different to watch. That’s what you expect from all this What If animation. To be able to watch extraordinary Marvel events. Time will tell us what quirks we’ll be watching without crossing Disney+ boundaries, even though the team of writers say they’re bringing the most diverse stories they can to the screen.
