Tymon Smektala, the lead game designer of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, answered the question “what would he want to fix” of Dying Light 2 in an interview with VGC by giving Dying Light 3 as an example.
Smektala wanted players to feel much stronger in a hypothetical Dying Light 3 than in Dying Light 2. Looking back months after Dying Light 2, the designer says that giving the player more talent and skill is something he wants to “fix”.
“If we were to do Dying Light 3, I would like the main character to have bigger and better starting skills and abilities. In Dying Light 2, we used the same approach as in the first game, meaning that the player started out quite poorly and gradually strengthened. When I look at Dying Light 2 from my perspective three months after the game’s release, I see that this is something I want to fix.
So if the third game happens, then the character has to start with more power, more skill and skill,” says Smektala.
The first DLC for Dying Light 2 was originally supposed to be released in June, but has been postponed until September. Techland had already said before the game was released that Dying Light 2 would be supported by post-release content for at least five years.
