Alan Wake was first released for Xbox 360 and PC in 2010. It was remembered as an original game that stood out for its story and the way it told the story. It’s about a young thriller writer who writes books that don’t come down from bestsellers, and his life quickly turned into a nightmare. From his last book, when he couldn’t remember when he wrote it, he’s living events in real life himself, and the beginning of that is with his wife’s disappearance. It was a highly acclaimed game with its particularly tense atmosphere, enemies and graphics beyond the age, even in its time.
Remedy acquired the rights to the game from Microsoft, the original publisher with IP rights, in July 2019. Sam Lake, the studio’s creative director, later announced that he wanted to make an Alan Wake sequel. Remedy then signed a publishing agreement with Epic Games in March 2020 for two undisclosed games.

They said one of these two projects was an AAA game to be broadcast on multiple platforms and the other was a smaller-scale project. Both projects are being developed through Remedy’s proprietary Northlight game engine and tools. Epic Games Publishing will cover all development and publishing costs, while splitting profits by 50/50. It will be great to see a sequel for the series after a long break.
