The sequel to American McGee;s Alice, 2011’s Alice: Madness Returns, was removed from Steam in 2016 due to Electronic Arts and DRM issues. The game, which was away from Steam for about 6 years, returned to Steam in February of this year in a magnificent way.
Alice: Madness Returns’ Steam adventure lasted about four months this time, as the game once again flew off Steam with the phrase “At the request of the publisher”.
This time, however, the problem is not due to Electronic Arts (which we can see in the forums that the arrows are immediately turned to EA). As American McGee himself announced on Twitter, this time the problem is due to the fault of the game’s developer, Spicy Horse.
Spicy Horse decided to remove another game, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, from Steam due to a problem, but probably as a result of carelessness, the pumpkin exploded on the head of another game, Alice: Madness Returns, from the pumpkin developer. McGee says “we’re trying to fix this problem as soon as possible”, so I guess the game will return to Steam soon.
The price of the game was as low as 7 pounds in Steam discounts, so if it goes back and you see a nice discount again, I think you should add it to your library. You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow:)
