Atari’s game section is officially shifting gears. Currently focused on mobile games and free-to-play games, the company has not achieved as good a result from this industry as they had hoped. As reported by GamesIndustry, the board will focus on console and PC games in the future.
Ceo Wade J. Rosen, who was recently appointed to Atari, said the change was implemented because “the competitive and marketing environment aggravates the free-to-play business model.” As a result of this change, Atari foresees a $5.9 million loss.
Atari continues to release successful mobile games that are free to play, and will either close or sell roller coaster Tycoon Stories, Atari Combat: Tank Fury, Ninja Golf and other titles like this one.
