The Avatar movie, which was released in 2009, was perhaps one of the rare productions that changed the world in terms of cinema. With the film directed by James Cameron, 3D films entered our lives much more clearly and we could not get rid of the effect of this for a long time. James Cameron, who is preparing to make a fantastic return to the Avatar brand, will come up with not one, not two, but four new Avatar films. The veteran director is determined to shoot three of them, but he’s looking for a new name to hand over the flag for the last two films.
In an interview with Empire, Cameron compared shooting Lord of the Rings to shooting an Avatar without a source material, saying that Avatar movies take too much time. One of the decisions of Cameron, who says that he has handed over some projects to different directors in the inter-avatar process, is to give Alita: Battle Angel to Robert Rodriguez. However, the director, who is now in charge, does not intend to leave the seat for at least three films.
“Avatar movies are consumer films in every sense. There is other work I need to do. As long as it excites me, I develop something. I don’t know in time, maybe I want to hand over the flag after three or four. I want to leave the flag to a director who can take over everything. That way, I’ll be able to go and do other things I’m interested in. Or I won’t, I don’t know.” It’s clear in Cameron’s head that he is a predecessor for the Avatar series. The only question that seems to be at the moment is who will grab this “padawan” role.
There will undoubtedly be a lot of aspirants for a brand like Avatar that keeps box office records in its pocket, but the trust issue that James Cameron talks about seems to be the key factor here. For now, we only know the name of the second of the next generation of Avatar films. Avatar: The Way of Water will be released on December 16 after a long hiatus. For fans who want to satisfy their longing for Avatar before Waterway, the original Avatar movie will be released again on September 23 in various theaters.
