Last year, Xbox announced the acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, in a $7.5 billion deal. The deal was completed earlier this year.
Xbox President Phil Spencer said in an interview with IGN that the deal didn’t happen overnight and took many years to complete.
Spencer: “Robert and I had these discussions a few years ago. So this was not just an argument that occurred within months, it lasted more than a few years. We finally got the right opportunity for both of us. We tried to adjust the best timing both economically and for the team.”
Xbox and Bethesda showcased their two upcoming games, Starfield and Redfall, at E3 2021. It also offered updates on some of its already released games.
