Activision Blizzard is facing a tough time! Last week, a sex discrimination lawsuit was filed by the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. When the statements from Blizzard executives were not enough, hundreds of employees decided to boycott the company.
Blizzard executive J. Allen Brack, who has been at the center of these controversies, has been officially removed from his post. Brack, who has been managing the studio for three years, had been working at Blizzard for 15 years. Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra are in charge of the studio. Blizzard’s official statement reads:
Oneal has done great things despite having only joined the brand last January. The executive, who has a say in major games such as Diablo and Overwatch, used to be the director of Vicarious Visions. Ybarra, who has worked at Microsoft for a long time, has been with Blizzard since 2019. Ybarra has been playing an important role in the development of Battle.net for some time.
It is also worth noting that the title of the two is “co-leaders”. So while the duo are now at the forefront of the title, the Activision-Blizzard front has been tipped off by Bobby Kotick.
The repercussions of the case are likely to continue for some time.
