Embracer Group provided information on Biomutant’s sales performance in a statement.
Biomutant, developed by the Swedish studio Experiment 101, was released at the end of May; Embracer Group said in a financial report today that the game sold 1 million.
“A week after the game’s release, we extracted all our investment in the development and marketing of the game, as well as the purchase cost of Experiment 101;in and IP,” says Embracer.
Embracer acquired the rights to THQ Nordic, Experiment 101; and Biomutant, which it owns, for around £6.2m. The company also interpreted Biomutant’s sales as “in line with our expectations”, but it was frankly a little low for a game that sold so much advertising to sell 1 million copies.
Just today, we reported that the developer of Outriders was unaware of the game’s sales figures. People Can Fly said the game sold 3- 4 million but still didn’t get royalties, indicating that Square Enix couldn’t get the cost. Outriders, which cannot extract the cost with 4 million sales on the one hand, biomutant, which only extracts the purchase cost of its studio with 1 million sales on the other. Interesting.
