Blizzard and Chinese gaming giant NetEase have reportedly canceled the massively multiplayer World of Warcraft mobile game due to a financial dispute. According to Bloomberg, this game would be set in the same universe as World of Warcraft and would be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
The game, which was reportedly canceled, has been allegedly worked on for three years by a team of more than 100 NetEase developers. Blizzard and NetEase, which released World of Warcraft in China and are also co-creators of Diablo Immortal, are said to have gotten into a dispute over financial terms for the game and eventually canceled the mobile game.
On the other hand, Warcraft Arclight Rumble, a free-to-play action strategy game that is also set in the Warcraft universe and will debut for mobile devices, was announced by Blizzard in May. In addition, last week, it was confirmed that World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will debut on September 26, 2022.
