World of Warcraft, the second mobile game to be produced by Blizzard and NetEase, has been unplugged. According to claims from Bloomberg’s sources, the team working on the project was disbanded, and only some of them were offered new roles within the company.
The cancellation of the MMO project, which has been in the works for about three years, is claimed to be Blizzard and NetEase’s disagreements over “financial issues”. The development team, which consisted of about 100 people, was disbanded after this decision. The MMORPG, codenamed Neptune, would be about a different time period than WoW.
It is not known exactly what these “financial issues” imply. On the other hand, there are rumors that Diablo Immortal has opened a gap between these two. Nevertheless, the partnership between Blizzard and NetEase continues.
There is another Warcraft game that has allegedly been canceled. Another Warcraft game codenamed Orbis, which will work with AR systems similar to Pokemon GO, has been canceled without looking at the four years of development.
