Hearthstone’s next major update will be released on February 15, and a new set of mini-cards called Onyxia;s Lair will join the game.
You’ll be able to get this new set of 35 cards by purchasing Alterac Valley card packs. Those who don’t want to drop the cards one by one will be able to buy the whole package for $15 or $2,000 in gold.
If that wasn’t enough, Blizzard is also starting to sell a deck of gold cards for the first time. If you can afford $70, you can have gold versions of all 35 cards at once. This is clearly an attempt to target players who pour a lot of money into the game, so the money from Hearthstone is not enough for Blizzard.
Although Hearthstone’s number of players tends to decrease day by day, the amount of money players pay hearthstone increases year after year. This means that hardcore fans of the game continue to pour money into cards and cosmetics that are constantly added. Blizzard wants to consider ways to make more money, of course, when they have players like that.
