The survey, sent to selected Blizzard players from market research and data analytics firm YouGov, revealed claims that Blizzard was considering putting an NFT in its games.
Accordingly, the survey asked a wide range of questions, from how often players played Blizzard games to what type they liked to play the most. One of the questions was about the use of new technologies in Activision Blizzard products. Survey snaps included cross-platform use, new content production with artificial intelligence, as well as “NFT usage.”
Another part of the job is that when the survey is completed, players are directed to the Battle.net store. Normally, when you complete such surveys, thank you; You’re being redirected to the page, but Blizzard seems to have thought, “If we’re doing a survey, maybe we’ll get three or five players in the store.” Of course, this move has also drawn a backlash, needless to say.
When rumors and news about the use of the NFT broke, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra stepped in and said, “Nobody’s doing NFT,” putting an end to those rumors about Blizzard for now.
Gaming companies such as Konami and Atari have already started selling NFT. The firms actually want to use the NFT and make more money, but for now they are holding back because of the reaction of the players. You never know what’s going to happen next.
If you want to read an article that explains in simple terms what is wrong with NFT;s, which you hear constantly, I say be sure to read the article “On NFT and Blockchain…” prepared by Gülhis and Anton.
