Blizzard Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Spellberak developer Proletariat. As part of Blizzard Entertainment, Proletariat’s 100-person team will work on the World of Warcraft series, including the upcoming expansion pack “Dragonflight.”
As announced yesterday, the online services of the free-to-play multiplayer action game Spellberak are now coming to an end. The servers will shut down in early 2023.
Blizzard Entertainment is making this acquisition to strengthen the cast of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Boston-based Proletariat is among Blizzard’s biggest acquisitions in at least a decade.
On the other hand, Activision Blizzard, Blizzard’s parent company, has added the Vicarious Visions team, which has been a long-time Activision studio, to Blizzard in January 2021 to work on the Diablo series.
