Call of Duty Online, a free game first released for China in 2015, is closing. Tencent, the company that runs the game, announced that the game would close and users would be encouraged to switch to Call of Duty Mobile.
Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners said this was due to a “revenue decline and a lack of renewal from Activision.” The game is reportedly due to close at the end of August.
Call of Duty Online players will receive Call of Duty Mobile items to help facilitate migration. Ahmad also stressed that Call of Duty Online is “very successful” in China.
