Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer told The Verge that Microsoft signed a deal with Sony in January (a written statement was reportedly sent to PlayStation president Jim Ryan in the process). According to the agreement, Microsoft will keep Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles for a few more years.
Spencer said: “In January, we made another offer to Sony beyond the current contract and reached an agreement between us. We’ve secured a guarantee to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles for at least a few more years.”
Although the exact number of years is not clear, it is reported that Sony’s marketing agreement for Call of Duty will expire in 2024 and the phrase “a few years” will probably coincide with 3 or more.
On the other hand, after Sony’s hike on PS5 consoles, Microsoft has stated that there will be no increase in Xbox Series X/S consoles. Speaking to Video Games Chronicle, a Microsoft spokesperson reported that a price increase for the Xbox Series X/S is not planned.
