The first video for Duke Nukem Begins was released recently. I’m sure our followers who were involved with the games in the ’90s will remember the Duke Nukem series. Duke Nukem Forever was announced in 2001, and the game, which changed hands frequently, was released exactly 10 years later in 2011. Of course, we were crushed below expectations and unfortunately we didn’t have a good game. Looks like duke nukem forever chaos and expectations are still going on, and there’s another game in the background for the series.
Duke Nukem Begins video released after 13 years
Gregor Punchatz, a playwright who worked on models in films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, RoboCop and RoboCop 2, posted a video of the cancelled Duke Nukem Begins game, which was included in the Doom project with id Software. According to Punchatz, Gearbox Software started working on Duke Nukem Begins in 2008, but it was canceled before it even reached the announcement stage. Punchatz’s information about the game is as follows:
“In 2008, while working at Janimation in Dallas, Texas, we were hired by Gearbox to animatedly show what Duke Nukem Begins would look like. This game was about the origins of Duke Nukem. As a director at Janimation, I pioneered this project and worked on many characters, including Duke’s design and modeling. We’ve spent everything we can to make the greatest cinematic film Janimation has ever created. Unfortunately, we received word that Gearbox had cancelled the game due to legal issues with Duke Nukem at the time.”
When we look at the video, of course, it is difficult to say anything clear as CG is animation. However, although it does not look very encouraging in general, we see that there will be a co-op option for four people in the game and the TPS camera angle is preferred over FPS. We can’t say that we’re very sorry that it was canceled after watching the video. Check out this video of Duke Nukem Begins, which was cancelled by Gearbox, below. What do you think of that?
