Capcom is one of the most financially sound companies in the gaming world. Every year at this time, the previous year’s financial reports are released and we receive record news from Capcom. The company has already been reporting a steady increase in operating income for the last 9 years, and for the last 5 years it has been on the agenda with profitability records. Let’s just say the tradition hasn’t broken this year.
In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022, Capcom’s net sales rose 15% from last year to $847.5 million , while operating income rose 24% to $329.9 million .
As you know, Capcom has released two big games this fiscal year: the first is Resident Evil Village, and the other is Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Resident Evil Village had 6.1 million sales, while Monster Hunter Stories closed the fiscal year with 1.5 million sales.
Capcom’s biggest factor in year-over-year revenue growth is the strength of older catalog games and the continued rapid growth of digital sales. Of course, when commercial products, eSports and arcade operations are added to this, we can see that they have established a very stable financial structure.
Monster Hunter Rise, for example, sold 4.1 million in this fiscal year alone, while even the long-time Resident Evil 7 sold an extra 1.8 million . Resident Evil 7 has officially been selling over a million dollars a year for six years in a row.
Overall, annual game sales were 32.6 million, up from 30.1 million last year.
