Capcom reported the highest first-quarter sales and profit in its history this year. As you know, the fiscal year ends on March 31st, and then the new fiscal year begins. So that’s why the first quarter covers April, May and June.
Capcom’s statement relates to the first quarter ended June 30, 2021. Sales reached 48.243 million yen (up 104.1% year-on-year) and net income was 17,340 million yen (up 121.9% year-on-year) in the quarter.
The biggest reason for these high numbers is that Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise came out this quarter. Year-on-year, game sales also increased by 44.6% to 13.3 million units.
Capcom also said it expects total sales of 100 million yen and net income of over 30,000 million yen in the fiscal year ending march 2022.
Resident Evil Village sold over 4.5 million copies, making Capcom smile.
