Developer CD Projekt RED has announced the development of a new The Witcher game in Unreal Engine 5. The new game will launch a new saga for the franchise.
CD Projekt RED is developing its new Witcher game with the Unreal Engine 5 engine. This is one of the factors that unlocks the technical development and future potential of Unreal Engine 5. It’s also the beginning of a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. CD Projekt RED will try to adapt UE5 to the open world experience. In doing so, epic games will work closely with its developers.
Speaking about the use of Unreal Engine 5 and future games, Pawel Zawodny, CTO of CD PROJEKT RED, said: “One of our objectives at the moment is to focus much more strongly on technology. For this purpose, we are in cooperation with Epic Games. We didn’t think of this initiative as a classic license purchase. Both we and Epic see this as a long-term, satisfying technology partnership.
As CD PROJEKT RED, it is vital to decide the technical aspect of our next game at an early stage. We have spent a lot of resources and energy developing and adapting our own REDengine engine. This collaboration is very exciting. This collaboration will give us access to state-of-the-art game development tools. We look forward to presenting you the great games we will create using Unreal Engine 5.”
Other details of the development, such as the release date, have not yet been released.
