Chris Metzen, one of the most important figures in the gaming industry, made the first statements about the new game project. Metzen, who surprisingly announced his departure from Blizzard in 2016, where he has been actively involved for 20 years, is returning after four years. Moreover, creating a whole new world, Metzen is preparing to face gamers with a brand new game tabletop game.
Chriz Metzen announces new game project
Chris Metzen isn’t alone in this project. He’s got a new team. Moreover, he has included many of his friends who previously worked at Blizzard. Ryan Collins and Mike Gilmartin, who previously appeared in World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft projects, are among them. In October last year, it was announced that the pair had reunited and they had set up a studio called Warchief Gaming. The first fruit of this studio beganto appear with its first details.
Chris Metzen has announced that his new game project will take place in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. It is also informed that a whole new world has been created for this new project, which will include breezes from this world. This suggests that the project is considered for a very long time and can come up with at least series or different productions.
Giving information about this new world created on the basis of D&D, Metzen said, “We can think of Lawbrand as a confederation of commercial cities. There are eight or nine of these trading cities. It’s almost like an industrial revolution,” he said, emphasizing how important trade is to his new world.
“All races actually live in these big cities. The Ogre neighborhood is down there, the dwarves, the people, they all live here. They all work in the same factories, the kids go to the same schools. There’s also a church in this new community order that oversees everything and creates order. Auroboros itself is like the first force of creation. The more you use it, the more you get caught up in this power (in tribute to the snake that ate itself). This condition begins to cause holes and death.
Chriz Metzen’s book Worldbook: Lawbrand, the first step in this newly created world, will garnersupport on Kickstarter on April 20th. We can also say that if it is successful, it will probably open the muscle for the next steps of this project. Although it has not yet been officially stated, it seems very likely that they will come up with tabletop games, books and possibly games about this world created.
