The incidents of discrimination and sexual harassment that rocked Activision Blizzard are causing sponsors to reconsider their decisions. According to the Washington Post, the Overwatch League will lose two major sponsors because both Coca-Cola and State Farm have decided to review their dealings with the company.
The current company sponsors of the Overwatch League are Coca-Cola, State Farm, Xfinity, IBM, Cheez-It, Pringles and Teamspeak.
The State Farm representative said that “we are reassessing our limited marketing relationship with the Overwatch League”, and asked that their ads not be shown at weekend games. Coca-Cola says they are aware of the charges against Activision Blizzard and will take a step back and consider future plans.
T-Mobile’s brand ads were also removed from the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League pages, and T-Mobile was one of those that distanced itself from Activision Blizzard.
