While Corsair’s HS series is technically a family of thoroughbred player products, it stands in a slightly different place and has so far created a distinct fan base with its unpretentious but stylish designs. You know that we love the family who were previously our guests with the HS35, HS60 PRO and HS70 models. Here’s a new top model for the series, which is the choice of players who don’t like things like extravagant colors and light shows.
The Corsair HS80starts with the difference of RGB Wireless; For the first time, RGB lighting has been used in an HS series product, but don’t worry, this lighting is not damaged by the logo alone, with a very limited feel to the “stylish like piano” vibe of the series. Although the HS80 is an entirely new product in terms of design, it carries the general feel of the series; it is understated, stylish and has an extremely high quality feel. While plastic is used on the head bridge, the sections connecting drivers who can turn 90 degrees inward to the bridge are metal and quite robust. Weighing 367 grams, the headset feels its “weight” from all angles. Although Corsair prefers a driver design with the back closed, it has used a very thick fabric as an ear pillow. These fabric pillows are extremely comfortable and can be removed and washed at any time. They have one minus, if you feed cats, it collects a lot of feathers from the air. Of course it’s not a minus, my darlings.
The Corsair HS80 is the company’s first headband model and there are no opening settings on the head bridge. Instead, you can set up the headband, but it took me a while to adjust it to my head the first time, no lies. I wish they’d opted for a simple system that adjusts their own tension, like the Plantronics RIG 500 series, instead of putting in extra adjustments for headband. I’ve got a big head, for example, I was a click away from being uncomfortable. So if you have a big head (I don’t think it’s bigger than me), the Corsair family has models that are more suitable for you, it may not be a very comfortable choice for you.
Apart from that, the product is extremely comfortable, you are comfortable for hours when you adjust it to your head. The product has a battery life of 20 hours, but since my review coincided with the end of the magazine, the baby worked overtime. The value I’ve reached in a period of 12-13 hourswith loud Discord talks, lots of action games and plenty of Sabaton , that’s more than enough. Meanwhile, the success of fabric ear cushions in leaking quite little outside and filtering out the outside sound is also noteworthy. I wasn’t expecting it, I’ll tell you what.
What did we say, 367 grams? It’s neither heavy nor light. As expected from a product of this material quality. One small criticism is that the outer cover of the drivers holds a lot of fingerprints and is difficult to clean.
There’s no button on the headset. On the left side there is an on/off key, a volume-on-off switch, and a working light (green-orange-red) that also indicates charging status. The product warns you aloud in case of on/off, connecting and charging. The same warning is available for the microphone.
What we said, microphone. Corsair didn’t choose a removable microphone on the HS80. It didn’t bother me. When the microphone is folded up, it leaves your field of view and turns itself on and off at the top/bottom points. It’s quite flexible, but you can’t put it in your mouth, and don’t do it anyway. Since the microphone is omnidirectional, it can absorb some of the surround sounds, but its performance and clarity are extremely successful. It’s just that the level of sound he gave me was a little lower than I’m used to, and my friends in the playgroup didn’t sense an anomaly.
Now to the performance side. The 50mm neodymium magnet drives used in the HS80 give an unusual frequency response for gaming headsets such as 20Hz-40KHz. As you know, 20Khz is the upper limit that our mortal body can perceive, but the amount of distortion can increase as we get closer to this limit, so the features that the HS80 puts on the table are extremely remarkable.
The product can be used wired (24K 96KHzwith USB-C) and wireless(24K 48KHz). Corsair’s Wi-Fi adapter is a little big, but there’s a reason. If you use other Corsair products (e.g. mouse, keyboard, headphones) you can solve them all with a single adapter (multipoint), which means saving usb slots. Corsair’s Slipstream Wireless technology promises to connect up to 20 metres, but that depends partly on the shape of your home. Of course, this is where the range and quality of your Wi-Fi connection comes in. Anyway, there’s no need to come in here much, you know what it’s about.

Another issue, Dolby Atmos. Many of the headphones I tested so far had trouble showing dolby atmos itself, so I finally went and bought the app. The HS80 was the easiest product to get along with the Dolby Access app. With Dolby Atmos, you can capture a virtualization performance that’s entirely to your liking, whatever you’re doing in the moment (movie-game-music).
The virtualization performance in games is in the dolby Atmos quality that we are used to, and when it comes to music, I did not find the iCUE’s standard Flat settings to suit my tastes. After spending some time, he managed to impress me with his stage, the wonderful balance he offered from trebles to basses. How many player headphones are there that can give Money For Nothing credit?
Another nice thing is that the product supports PS5 and PS4, available wirelessly. All you have to do is plug the Wi-Fi adapter into your console and you can connect in a few seconds. That’s it, that’s it.
Finally, you need to install Dolby Access alongside the iCUE to get PC-side efficiency from the product. So we’re not dealing with a very portable product, which is normal.
As a result, friends who became HS80, their little idiosyncrine, their little wishes, but with peace of mind, the Editor’s Choice took it from me. The price abroad is $149 and the price in our country is not yet clear, but it will not be very cheap. It will make you happy if your budget is lifting and you are looking for a high-end headset for both console and gameplay.
