Tough times for full-size gaming keyboards. If you’re a dinosaur like me, you may not be comfortable with no numerical pads at hand, but our young people have already overcome this issue.
As a result, the demand for Tenkeyless (TKL) and 60% size keyboards has reached the cross. As seen in Ercan’s Razer Huntsman Mini and Mahmut’s Asus ROG Claymore II reviews this month, every company has a different answer and an answer. Corsair has managed to establish a presence in this market with the K65 and K70 TKL series so far, but they do not seem to have given up on classical methods. In this respect, the K70 RGB PRO is both innovative and traditional designed with the needs of professional gamers in mind.
Design
I don’t know if there’s any need to explain the K70. This series, which we have hosted with different models before, has now reached the status of legend. K70 means a heavy, stylish keyboard that is high quality, fast, can be ordered with different switches according to your wishes, K70 RGB PRO is no different. Although the main body is made of plastic, the 1.2kg keyboard (443x165x39mm), which comes with an aluminum upper body, takes up a large space on your desk with its dimensions and comes with a wrist supporti. Not everyone liked this wrist support, but I was pleased with the fact that the magnets fit in place and the soft and high quality coating.
One of the features that comes with the K70 RGB PRO is that it comes with the AXON technology, which we met in the K70 TKL before. The most advertised advantage of AXON is, of course, the 8K polling rate and 4K keyscan feature, which we are not used to in a keyboard. Of course, on the technical side, these things change a lot, but frankly, they don’t make a noticeable difference, even for a professional player. Here are the advantages that affect the player the most, their contribution to reducing the latency to less than 4ms. Another advantage is that you can store 50 different profiles on the keyboard and switch between them.

Besides AXON technology, the K70 RGB PRO comes with a Tournament Switch . When you use this switch on the back of the keyboard, the keyboard moves away from all software support, including iCUE and macros, and other distracting features like RGB. Moreover, after opening it, they also put a locking mechanism. When you turn on Tournament Switch, the keyboard turns red, but you can choose that color and save it to the keyboard when iCUE is on. Apart from preventing distractions, its biggest function is, of course, to prevent macro-like interference in tournaments, making the keyboard legal and easily manageable for big tournaments. I think it’s an outstanding add-on, even though most of you won’t use it.
Another issue is the PBT keys. The K70 series, which previously came with ABS keys, has switched to slightly rough and much more durable PBT keys in this model. In this way, the nightmare of the players, “flash on the button” and “delete the characters”, was resolved peacefully. Unfortunately, I have bad news about this, we have learned that the K70 RGB PROs to be sold in Turkey will have Polycarbonate keys instead of PBT. The problem is of course cost, but luckily the Polycarbonate keys used are also more durable than the previous generation.
By the way, with the help of the aluminum upper body, I have to say that we have come across one of the most fluid and successful light shows we have ever seen. It is also possible to manage this through iCUE up to 20 different layers . I’m going to have two minor criticisms here. First of all, I think the keys do not fit very strongly in place, there is a slight oscillation. Secondly, the sound of ringing/echoing on the keyboard is more than I expected. I was especially hung up a lot until I got used to it.
Performance
Corsair offers a wide range of key options in this model that can appeal to a professional. It is possible to choose the one that suits your needs among Cherry MX’s Red, Blue, Brown, Silent Red, LP Red and LP Speed Silver switches. If you’re a hardcore gamer and won’t use it for writing, for example, Speed Silver is right for you. If you are going to write, you can choose MX Brown. The MX Red in our test product, as it is known, is a product that stands on the performance side of the middle. MX Red, a linear switch, is among the most admired and preferred in the market. Although it is very performant, these are the keys that will not force you when writing after you get used to it a little. It has a key press life of 100 million and a working weight of 45 grams , while the working distance is 2.0mm. The total travel distance of the button is 4.0mm.
If the K70 RGB PRO was going to target professionals, it had to come up with things that would make the huge keyboard easier to carry. In this model, the USB Type C->A cable can be removed, but the carrying case is not included in the package. Unfortunately, the USB port on the K70 Mk.2 is not included in this keyboard. The feet of the keyboard can be set to two different levels, and since it opens sideways, it is unlikely to accidentally close it.
Each key of the keyboard can be defined separately through iCUE, but it does not have dedicated macro keys. Again, all keys have N-Key Rollover and Anti-Ghosting . It’s not lacking for someone like me whose hand goes to the M1 key every time he wants to press the ESC key.
In terms of media keys, the keyboard is also very rich. The sound on/off cylinder in the upper right is made of aluminum and is a bit heavy. Below and on the left side are the other media keys, and they are not small, they are easy to reach. In the upper left are other keys with which we can switch between profiles, adjust the light intensity of the keyboard and lock the Windows key.

All in all, the K70 RGB PRO is a highly successful product for professionals. We can say that the product, whose price in our country is 179$ + VAT , is at the same price level as the K70 Mk.2 Rapidfire and LP models in this respect.
