Sony had assembled its own studios under the umbrella of PlayStation Studios; this can be considered a reasonable move to collect your games under a brand. This brand has already been introduced when bringing their games to PC. The part up to here is old information. The news that colours the environment is an update to the PlayStation Studios site.
Careful users noticed that the top image on the site had been altered and that the new image featured Sam from Death Stranding in the section that previously featured Concrete Genie. Which brings to mind the question, “Is Sony going to buy Kojima Productions?”
The MLB, Horizon and Gran Turismo images used in the banner have also been updated, as well as Demon’s Souls. Bluepoint, which makes Demon’s Souls Remake, was also acquired by Sony last year. This may be seen as a detail that reinforces the possibility that Kojima Productions could be acquired.
Hideo Kojima founded Kojima Productions in 2005 and continued to work for Konami until 2015. When Konami and I parted ways, Kojima Productions became an independent studio. Sony distributed the studio’s first game, Death Stranding, and the game debuted exclusively on PS4. Then came the PC and PS5 versions; 505 Games was the distributor of the PC version.
In recent weeks, we’ve learned that Kojima Productions has moved out of the office where it operated for five years. There was no information on the reason for this move, to be honest. Perhaps it’s a move to take collaboration with Sony to the next level.
Kojima said this morning that “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, but KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is and will continue to be an independent studio.” But even in doing so, he was sharing the image above, interesting work.
