Although Radek Grabowski, global PR director of CD Projekt Red, said that “we didn’t say the game we announced was The Witcher 4”, let’s still call the new game The Witcher 4 for convenience. The game was announced accompanied by a Witcher medallion buried under the snow, as you know.
This medallion doesn’t belong to the Wolf School, that’s for sure. So geralt won’t be the main protagonist of the game, we’re past the Geralt trilogy. At first it was thought that this was the Cat School medallion, after all Ciri de Cat School carries the medallion and has a very high potential to be the main protagonist of the new series.
But then it was claimed that this was the medallion of the Lynx School, and that was a very accurate claim. Lynx School, a school founded by members of The Cat School and Lamber after the events of The Witcher 3. But here’s the thing, this school isn’t in books or video games. It’s all fan fiction. As a result, cdpr’s fan fiction was considered unlikely to play on a school. Until Marcin Mormot’s confusing tweet.
Marcin Momot, cdpr’s global community director, responded to the tweet with a nod to the tweet, saying it “looks like a lynx.” You can see the tweet here.
Whether Momot simply meant “yes, the medallion looks like a lynx” or confirmed that the play would be about the Lynx School remains unclear. I’m sure momot’s been asked that question a lot, but he hasn’t received any further confirmation yet. There is no explanation from the creators of the Lynx School, but we expect this situation to become clear in the coming days.
