Big Ant Studios CEO Ross Symons shared with his followers the creative anti-piracy measures in Cricket 22, the studio’s newest game. Apparently, Symons likes to troll pirate players.
For example, in the pirate version of the game, the entire screen glows white between matches. Players who come to the support forums of the game on Steam (and on their site) with this problem also admit that they are playing the pirated version. Symons asked, “Has anyone encountered a white screen error between matches in Cricket 22? How am I going to fix it?” to which he replied, “If you buy the game, all those white screen problems will magically disappear.”
Nor is the Big Ant;s only measure a white screen. Pirate players always lose their money shots, controller error messages appear in the middle of the game (your battery is dead, replace it with a new one), artificial intelligence starts and plays with the attack before the match, when it comes to the player, the rain starts, it does not stop for a long time, and therefore the match is canceled (this is something that can happen in real life) are some of these measures.
“If players are going to steal our game, at least we can have some fun with them,” Symmons said, adding that after putting these measures in place against pirates, there has been a 300% increase in game sales. This must have been due to Symons’ promise that “if you buy the game, you will keep all your progress”.
