Wadjet Eye Games, one of the most successful adventure game developers and publishers of recent years, has announced its new game, Old Skies. Led by Dave Gilbert, the game is a time-travel-themed adventure set in the same universe as the Unavowed and Blackwell series.
The idea for Old Skies came about in the game jam in which Gilbert joined under a different pseudonym in 2019. Gilbert then worked on the idea and turned it into a long adventure game; In the game, we will see New York City in seven different time periods. The game, which we will go to many different times starting from the Gilded Age to the Alcohol Prohibition Period and the eve of September 11, will be released for PC, Nintendo Switch, Mac and Linux.
What strikes me most at first glance is that Wadjet Eye has this time set aside pixels plus and switched to high resolution. The game has 1920×1080 graphics (which is true which says is three times that of Unawoved).
It will be possible to die in the game (just like in the old Sierra games). But since it’s time travel involved, we’ll be able to try again, so death isn’t the end in this game. This also reminded me of Strangeland, published by Wadjet Eye Games.
The demo of Old Skies will be at the Steam Next Fest, which kicks off on June 13.
