Days Gone 2, as you know, was recently rejected by Sony. According to reports, Sony Interactive Entertainment has rejected plans for the developer Bend studio’s sequel, tasking them in part with helping major studios. Following the news, fans who started a petition on Change.org have so far gathered 53,725 signatures for the sequel to come.
Big step from fans for Days Gone 2
As the petition continued successfully, the statement stated:
“There are millions of people who want Sony PlayStation to approve Days Gone 2. They can’t pull the plug on a story that ends so open.””
Of course, we can say that this petition will have little effect on changing Sony’s plans for Bend. Still, Days Gone’s original director Jeff Ross thanked fans monday for their support and said the petition meant a lot to the team behind the game. In a statement on Twitter, he said:
“Thank you to everyone who has increased the Days Gone petition to 50,000! No matter where this thing ends, I want you to know how important your love is to me and the members of the team. Days Gone fans are the best!”
Jeff Ross and John Garvin left Bend last year. Both discussed their departures and Bloomberg’s report on Days Gone 2 in interviews with David Jaffe, one of god of war’s developers, this month. Ross confirmed he was working on Days Gone 2 at some point, but did not confirm whether it had been canceled because of a confidentiality agreement he had with his former employer.
However, he revealed some details about his ongoing negotiations, including plans for a major online mode, and strongly suggested that sales of the first game may not be strong enough to persuade Sony to give it the green light. As you know, in a report yesterday, John Garvin had a system for players to do the same. He said, “If you haven’t bought a game for the full price, don’t expect a sequel.” You can reach our related news right below.
