Now let’s be honest from the beginning, my dear Gamegezers. Most of us didn’t even know star-lord (Peter Jason Quill), one of today’s most popular heroes. Without James Gunn, he’d probably be one of the names left in the corner on the shore. Well, there’s a world of difference between The Star-Lord, who’s been through Gunn’s treatment, and the character in the comics. That’s not a bad thing, of course. Comic book characters change a lot from author to author anyway.
Star-Lord in comics
Star-Lord in comics stands out for his serious hero and tactical genius. Oh, and his father’s not Ego, he’s a friend named J’son. J’Son is the emperor of an alien race called Spartax, which actually makes Peter half Spartax.
Spartax’s greatest enemy at the time was another alien race called Badoon. The Badoons become aware of Peter and send a force to eliminate him when he’s only 10. Peter’s mother dies in this attack, but he manages to get past the attackers and escape. And the Badoons are walking away thinking they blew up Peter’s house and killed him. Peter is raised by his mother’s best friend Lisa Chang. Then he starts working at NASA. He goes into space when he’s a grown man, so there’s no such thing as being abducted as a child.
When Peter’s trapped in space, the Ravagers find him and rescue him. He tricks Yondu into stealing their ship, but he can’t do it. And when he’s caught, Yondu gives him two choices: “We’re either going to throw you into space or we’re going to kill you right here.”
Peter comes up with a better idea and says he wants to join the Ravager Gang. Yondu, who sees a piece of himself in Peter, also allows Peter to join the team at the end of the day, but as the ship’s cleaner.
If we try to write about Peter’s adventures in space, they’re going to have to save me, like, a quarter of the magazine. He’s been in a lot of big comic book stories until he started his own Guardians of the Galaxy team. In fact, let me underline that you beat Thanos more than once.
Star-Lord at mcu
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star-Lord is a completely different character. Instead of a tactical genius that the galaxy can rely on, we’re dealing with someone who’s overly emotional and naïve. Oh, I like the way you look. At the end of the day, one of the details that the MCU eats the most bread is that each character is funny, he’s after jokes, and he’s a consistent character in the universe they’ve created. And Quill in comics often succumbs to his emotions, but his reactions aren’t so childish.
The moment James Gunn touches it, even the most serious characters water down, squeas. But I want to reiterate that I’m not going to let you get away with this. I don’t have a problem with that. On the contrary, I like it. I’m happy to see alternatives to the characters and stories I love. It’s a really scary thing to expect loyalty to the main work and take it to the level of fanaticism, dear Gamers. If the adaptation is bad, it’s your natural right to criticize it, but I think it’s a shallow argument to raise a rebel flag because they didn’t stick to the original.
The story of the MCU Star-Lord is about to end in this phase. Judging by James Gunn’s statements about the Guardians of the Galaxy team, it’s not possible not to feel like the team is going to fall apart.
Star-Lord in Games
So don’t mind what I say in the games, because I’m talking about Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. As far as I’m concerned, this game is the best GotG job ever. Although he mainly fed on comic books, he also captured the best of the MCU.
The story of the game is different, the star-lord’s references to his past adventures are a different kind of beauty, sir. Star-Lord in the game is fun when needed and a complete leader when it comes to getting to work. It’s admirable that both psychics have managed to take their best and create an original character.
We’ve only just seen the Game Star-Lord on an adventure, but I’m pretty sure they’ll evaluate this team in a few more games if a very fantastic situation doesn’t happen.
