The Diablo 2 item fight resulted in a gunfight between two friends. In last Friday’s incident, Joshua Spellman, 36, shot his friend Andrew Dickson, 34, in the chest with a gun. Spellman is scheduled to appear in court on December 29 on charges of “manslaughter.”
Diablo 2-item fight is out of line
Spellman, a Diablo 2 Resurrected actor, told detectives that the incident was caused by what happened between him, Dickson and a third person. Dickson got out of control and started swearing at Joshua Spellman after a player who was in dickson and spellman’sgame who lived in houses quite close to each other “stole” a valuable item they had not yet collected. Dickson threatened him, according to Spellman, who didn’t add this feature to the lobby, which was supposed to be password protected.
According to the indictment, Spellman warned his friend of 26 years, Andrew Dickson, to calm down and said he would have shot him with a gun otherwise. Spellman, who was pointing dickson at his home as he grabbed the (!) gun that was standing next to his computer, made sure to shoot into the air as he walked between the two houses. Tensions between the two, who met again at Dickson’s home, did not drop, according to the indictment. Andrew Dickson, who entered the house while Spellman was telling his father what happened, reminded Spellman that he had threatened to shoot him with a gun.
Joshua Spellman shot Dickson in the chest as he walked over, and Dickson, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved.
Spellman, who is eligible for redemption for $750,000 for “manslaughter,” is scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday.
