With Disney+’s active launch last year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe first entered a rapid expansion process. Then, with The Mandalorian, especially the interim periods began to be filled for Star Wars. In fact, a side series is coming to the Rogue One film, which was released to fill the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, from these intermediate periods. It seems that the Andor series will fill in a lot of gaps again.
Speaking to Empire, Andor creator Tony Gilroy explained that they take this fill-in-the-blank job very seriously. Talking about his connection to all other Star Wars stories, Gilroy used the term “huge” for the scale of Rogue One, which will take place five years ago. The producer, who also mentioned the road map they followed in the first season of the series, explained the following;
As I understand it, the character of Cassian Andor starring Diego Luna will take a journey towards the point where Rogue One began, especially with the first season. We also know that the series was designed as a long-term project in the first place. So in the sequel seasons, we can probably reach a story that we will extend to the aftermath of Rogue One.
There are also quite interesting names in the cast of the series. Genevieve O, who plays Mon Mothma in Return of the Jedi; Reilly will reappear as the Rebel Leader. Andor, which will start broadcasting on Disney+ on August 31, will probably witness the effects of Order 66.
