Doctor Who, one of the longest-running productions in the history of sci-fi series, regularly comes up with a new doctor. The show, which was previously played by 13 different people, stars the new cast. Successful actor Ncuti Gatwa will appear as the new doctor.
With Gatwa’s election to the role, we’ll be watching a black doctor for the first time in history. The previous doctor also signed a different principle. The 13th doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, became the first female doctor in history.
The BBC’s choice of the last two doctors out of the classic formula naturally provoked some reactions. But given the changing times and the way people see things, there are those who like Doctor Who to keep up with that change. Rwandan-born Gatwa has seen sex education before. The new series Doctor Who, starring Gatwa, will begin airing next year.
Let’s see how the BBC changes as the 15th doctor.
